I didn't say to keep it open for a week, I said as long as there was active bidding at the end to keep it open, (like 30 seconds) to give everyone a chance to up the bid if they want, that would end the sniping. But, like I also said, the only ones that wouldn't like it that way would be the snipers, themselves!
