A while back when this idea first surfaced, I recall reading that motor fuel is not where most of the crude oil goes. The plastics industry uses more petroleum than motor fuel producers. To get the oil producer's attention, you should not buy anything made of plastic.

In fact, there are many plastic products that are carefully engineered to look and feel like paper to create the impression that they are being environmentally responsible and using a renewable resource - trees.

The truth is that we are exporting great quantities of trees to Japan and many true paper products cost more that their plastic replacements.

As to the possibility of any significant number of people in America supporting such a boycott, look at the idiots who go to a gas station where the price is ten cents a gallon higher than another station at the same corner to avoid having to wait for an available pump at the lower priced station.

By the way, on May 19th I'll be returning to Texas from the California Rally in my new POWER WAGON which gets 14 mpg. I know this is wasteful compared to trailering a POWER WAGON behind the 17 mpg diesel (23 mpg with no trailer) that I traded in.

I'll do my part. I'll ask for paper - real paper - bags at the grocery. I'll by gas at the lowest price in the area to send a message. But I won't miss the California POWER WAGON Rally!
