Never had a brazed joint fail, never had a welded joint in cast work. too much heat too fast when electrically welded, and how the heck are you gonna peen exactly enough at exactly the right time to make up for the shrinkage as it cools?
Just use oxy-acetylene, and run a slightly oxidizing flame- you want to burn the carbon off the surface to get a good bond. Brazing is good for 60,000 tensile, cast iron is only 7,000 psi tensile.
