I guess thats the difference between old trucks and Mopar Muscle cars. All newer vehicles have special rivots that hold the VIN tag onto the car. You dont take a Hemi car VIN tag off and put it on a 318 car and then try to pass it off as Hemi car. There are other locations with part of the VIN stamped into the car body as well as the engine and tranny.

As far as making 1 truck out of 10 trucks using parts is not a bad thing. Buying a completely wasted rusted beyond all hope truck with a title and then simply unscrewing the VIN tag and putting it on another truck is wrong and illegal. Thats also how stolen vehicles work also. If power wagons had the special rivots you would be screwed when you took it to the DMV for inspection. They'd see the wrong rivots and throw up a big red flag. If the DMV knows where the # is on the PW frame and they dont match they will also throw a fit.

My personal thought on this is the since the VIN tag can come off a Power Wagon easily then the tag must stay with the frame. If this cant happen then the truck is "totaled" and must be used for parts.

Would it be right for you to wreck/total your awesome Ford Power Stroker and then simply go get/steal another truck and put your VIN on it?!

Here's another idea. Keep the VIN and title off an old PW that has no hope. Go to Fairfield this June and steal a Power Wagon at night sometime when everyone is asleep and simply screw on the new VIN and have the title in your pocket. Is it now your truck?
