You need to check to see if it needs a Drop Down Resistor. The 8 volt battry could be making it hot also if it needs one and the resistor does not drop the voltage enought. 2 volts on 12v or 24v is not bad but on 6 volts it is a higher percentage of over voltage. See if you can find a coil rated for 8 volts. Mark H.
