I THINK acetylene makes H2O and CO2, and nothing environmental....I think. The exhaust doesn't smell, does it? Maybe burning steel and it's coatings make smog, but so would plasma. Now the market forces are another thing, if the big users all go to plasma for cutting, and LNG for heating, us peons could be dissapointed. Well, I bet Union Carbide still makes carbide, we'll need 'acetylene generators' to run our torches.
