steering wheel removal

What is the best way to remove the nut that holds the steering wheel on? I have a nut that is staked in three places. I really don't seee a way to remove it with out some damage to the threaded shaft. What are some ways you guys have done this job?
I do have the correct steering wheel pulller. For thhis job
