I'd bet you changed the length of the piston push rod. That blocks the relief port in the master cylinder and causes the results you described.
I apologize that the detailed brake information in the Technical Support section of the Museum web site was not clear. The instructions there are from Dodge and Dodge says "Do not adjust" the push rod.
The part of the Service Manual that covers brakes is there in downloadable format.
