In reality Dodge did not know either. The country was broken into blocks. Some got the manual saying to use grease, others got manuals stating to use different lubes. Then as warantee issues were tracked, they were finally able to determine which lube was correct. The user was a test bed.
Well, it makes as much sense as the manuals ha ha
