SIZE, The overall physical size of the engine that you can use is limited (without cutting the sheetmetal)

WEIGHT, Diesels weigh considerably more than gas engines, go too big and the truck will be nose heavy.

OUPUT, ideally you would want the highest output available while adhereing to SIZE and WEIGHT criteria.

AVAILABILITY, Cummins 4BT derivatives are widely available, both engines and spares.

RESALE, If or when you go to resale the truck, you will get a better price if you have used an engine that is commonly used rather than one that is unknown in this type of application.
