Interesting. I didn't know Warn made Hydraulic winches also. I have a PTO winch on a truck with an automatic transmission. It is very smooth, similar to hydraulic. I agree that a person certainly could and sometimes might need to use the trucks axles to assist, but he definitely should be careful not to allow the truck to get ahead of the winch or to leave a PTO driven winch in gear when he drives away afte freeing the truck. Winches deserve respect.
