The only way to identify these engines correctly is thru the CPL number on the Serial Plate RIVITED to the engine. With the CPL number, you can look it up in the Cummins Shop manual and determine what beast you have. And use GREAT caution in buying if the CPL Number is missing. Cummins North East, gave me the above information and even stated that the CPL number is more important than a serial number when buying parts or identifying an engine.
