My son and I flew back from Telluride, COlorado on the weekend and I have NEVER had a worse airline experience than with America West (first and last time with them).
In a nutshell, apparently many smaller airports don't have the ability to X-ray your luggage, so all bags have to be hand inspected. THis caused us to not take off until almost an hour after the flight was supposed to, ensuring many passengers to miss the connecting flight home. Bottom line, we were stranded for over 24 hours in Phoenix as all other flights were overbooked. Perfect weather, so no excuse there or with broken planes. SImply piss poor planning by America West in light of post 9/11 and security. And, to top it off, we had to go to a different airport than original, making my wife have to drive up and get us. Aargh!
