'ello Jim: The Power Rating of the Mitsu engine would be about the same as the stock flattie six in the Power Wagon, the main advantage youd have over the stock gasser engine would be better fuel economy, but even that would not be very much with that engine in stock form, running 5.83 gears, Youd need to run 4.89 gears with around atleast 36 inch tall tires to notice much improvement. Now, you can always upgrade this engine with a Turbo, turn up the pump, advance the injector pump timing etc, those will give modest gains in HP and torque. As for Detroits, the 3.53's supposedly fit fairly well, and run very good in these type of trucks, but with almost any diesel, if you plan to see much road time, you want to put in 4.89 gears. Also with Detroits, they are 2 stroke engine, very loud, and not as efficent as 4 stroke engine, but they sure do wrap up quick, but most Detroits leak alot as well. A joke we had at one of the gravel pits I worked at in high school was "A Detroit Diesel cannot run unless it is leaking oil and has atleast 1 cracked sleeve.....Good luck!
