From my 74-77 parts book, and 77 shop manual:

7M318 06090372

7 = 1977

M = Mound Road

318 = 318ci

There should be an R T or M here

0609 does not fit my books numbers, this should be the build date, and it should start with 5, like 5793.

0372 this should be the sequence number for that day.

I hope this helps, unless your numbers are wrong, either my book is missing info, or there is some other way to decode your numbers. The earlier and later 318s seem to start with a letter, but my books stop in 1980, so my info may be wrong if you have a engine built after 1980 and they use similar numbers to 1977.

Eric
