Paul,
Years ago, I had a similar experience in a WDX. A drunk in a Chevy Vega crossed over the centerline at an intersection, at a fairly low speed, and hit me headon. It wound up in court, where I explained that I saw the other driver cross the line, and fail to apply her brakes. When it was her turn to speak, she said that all she saw was big headlights and this huge bumper. She said it should be against the law to have a bumper like that! LOL! I drove my WDX home with nary a dent, but the Vega got swept up the next day and taken away in a dump truck. After the collision, the firefighters who responded had trouble getting the two vehicles separated, as my winch was hooked over the gearshift lever of the Vega. I finally got it loose by backing off it in low range. A few days later I got a flat on the left front, from an unobserved piece of Vega trim that stuck into the tire. That, plus a few dings in the oil pan, were my only casualties. See, it doesn't matter if your truck has the factory badges on it or not...we don't need no steenking badges! A Dodge is a Dodge!
