What you are referring to is gear play.

There has to be some clearance between the gears. The differentials also have play that adds to this.

A locker will not do anything for this play. A locker will, like the lockrite, lock both axle shafts together if one advances a full revolution more than the other.

Axle wrap is what happens when the tire adheres to the ground and the axle twists until it wraps the spring up to the point where it cannot go any further and breaks an axle shaft or the spring, or the tire breaks traction before that and spins, or the vehicle starts to move. All vehicles have some amount of axle wrap. Uncontrolled severe axle wrap can break things quckly. That's why drag cars and some race cars use traction bars to forbid axle wrap. Unless you are running a 440 in your PW (or M37/WC/VC - happy Gordon and Fred?) you won't have a problem with axle wrap.
