Very very difficult, if not impossible. With stock motor, length of ~21-22" for 2WD version pretty much precludes use without moving transfer case back. Additionally, the bolt pattern is ~10" wide, which is outside the stock bellhousing. Conceivably a plate could be used to adapt to the bellhousing, with countersunk holes in the stock bolt pattern. But since the input shafts are both ~7.5" long, an "extended pilot bushing" would be required. It is really only reasonable in the following applications: petrol V8 (if appropriate bellhousing available), diesel V8 (GM 6.5) with GM 4500, and Cummins 4BT. There were/are 6BT repower kits made which include bellhousings or other adpaters for the NV4500. These kits work equally well with the 4BT.
All the above motors are considerably shorter than the flathead. My 15" Clark in the stock location barely allows an ultra short driveshaft. A 18-21" transmission must therefore be 3-6' further forwards than the stock bellhousing. The Hercules has a 3.5" thick block to bellhousing adapter. The fan is close enough to the radiator. I think even with a 4BT mounted tight up forwards a NV4500 would be tight vis-a-vis the transfer case.
