20" wheels for a PW

I just traded a guy for a set of deuce-and-a-half wheels with new NDT tires. My thinking is that would it be possible(practical) to weld the centers from the PW wheels onto the 20 inchers. The 20" wheels stand about 40" off the ground with the NDT tires on them. Has anyone tried this? I just thought it would be a neat idea to toy around with. Also, the brownie box I was asking about last forum turns out to be a spicer 2-speed over/underdrive model. You can install it frontways for overdrive or turn it around backwards for the underdrive. It's a divorced unit like the transfer case and goes between the t-case and the rear differential so it would be for use with the front axle disengaged only. It's lever actuated mutch like the PTO and provides a 1 to 1, a neutral position, and a 4 to 3 ratio. The vehicle must be stopped to switch into overdrive though. But with a 2 speed transfer case in the WDX I will have 16 forward gears to chose from! Not to mention a great theft deterrent as there are now 6 diffrent levers on the floor of the cab in which to select gears from. If you search your local wrecking yard you may be able to find one. This came out of a '49 Dodge 1 1/2 ton 2wd truck, but I was told that they were put in many trucks up into the late 60's including chevy's and Internationals.
