In 1994 I had my bench seat reupholstered professionally. It has heavy duty brown vinyl, some minor spring repair (cross-links fixed), and some additional padding (like a piece of 1" foam).
This cost me $100. I glued a piece of gauze-like cloth on the bottom in an attempt to filter out some of the dust generated and pumped out by bounceing along on the seat. The seat back is still in decent original condition, and the vinyl color match is okay. I still have the head liner out until I repaint the interior, and Tuesday when I went over the speed bumps at work too fast, I bounced up into the head liner stand-off hard enough to cut my bald spot open. It wasn't serious and I had to laugh even though I was bleeding. Some conforming foam would be nice, either on the seat or the ceiling, but that stuff is too expensive. Good luck with your project.
