I was in court one day challenging a ticket for "failure to secure a load", and I learned something very important about speeding tickets. Almost everyone who tried to explain why they weren't really going that fast still had to pay, though if they didn't have a bad record, they usually got the fine reduced. However, there were 5 or 6 people there who had a lawyer, and it was the same guy representing all each of them. When each of his clients was called, the lawyer told the judge that he'd requested the full calibration report on the radar gun used, but had only received the half-page short form report. I have no idea what the short and long calibration reports were, but every one of his client's tickets was thrown out completely. I guess that's how lawyers earn their fees.
