Some earlier "W-series" style doors made from 1939-1945 looked the same on the outside, but did not have the proper construction on the inside to accept vent windows. Basically, the stamped metal was not the same shape or in the right places. Some of these older doors were assembled into early model WDX trucks while they were still using up the supply of old parts on the assembly line. I believe all of these early doors, that I have run across, were on very early 1946 WDX trucks. Most of the '46 and later trucks, even if not factory equipped with vent windows, have the proper stampings and holes in the doors to accept the special vent window tracks and hardware. My parts manuals list the vent windows as always being an option on the POWER-WAGONS.
