your first post regards the engine you said
your orginal crankshaft was ok - this post
you said you put in a different crankshaft
crankshaft end-play is measured in thousands
not 16ths (check your shop manual for correct measurement)
do you remember what it was when you assembled the engine???
if the tranny caused the problem then hopefully it is only the rear main bearing that got damaged
you can roll a new set in without dropping the crank
before you go pointing fingers - find out what the problem is yourself - drop the pan
and take a look
I am speaking from experience as i screwed up a little F-head willys engine in my jeep truck (40 + years ago) put the mains in wrong - oil holes did not line up - galled the bearings - put another set in & it was ok
was about my 4th engine & hey I knew it all
ooops wrong (big diff between Apprentice & Journeyman) the goof only cost a few bucks but i had to live with the reminders from my
friends for a long time
