Still useing low gears and letting engine compression slow vehicle is hard on a torque conv. But after reading your problem,seems to me your engine builder, or machine shop is at fault. You said engine has 0 mi. No, or low oil press., crank end play excessive right out of the box? Somebody missed the tolerance's. I don't know what it cost for a server, I am lucky enough to be able to use Phil Street's T-137 site. A lot of guy's here are nice enough to post your pic's for you, if you e-mail them a pic. Post a request
and see what happen's.If this is a new engine your trans. is not the cause. My .02
