Tim, You bring up an interesting point: neutral disconnects at the main box, all trans and shafts from there back to the wheels would still be under load so if the o/d is still engaged, it would be damaged. The safetly rule is: o/d disengaged at all times except when in top gear. But this next has never occured to me:- Its conceivable that you could coast to a stop with the clutch in and still in top gear, and I must admit I've done that once or twice just being preoccupied. Usually the gear gets put into neutral (cutting the o/d out) as you stop, but that's a hole in the safety- overrides if the gear stays in top. All this assumes the factory installation in other vehicles with all of the override cutouts, but you could still come to a stop in top gear in o/d, with the clutch in and roll back and damage it. (We used to test the operation at rest by shifting in and out of top.) But that's a real remote chance I guess. The o/d is used mainly on the freeway, not in stop and start traffic in town, so would be switched out anyway. So here's the 1 in a million chance: you come off the freeway still in o/d, stop up hill at the offramp light, stay in top gear, keep the clutch in and roll back.... not likely, but that would do it. Another cutout that senses the shaft starting to rotate backwards? Just kidding!
Anyway none of this applies to the installation in the PW, so I guess it should be posted to the jaguar board, but may it serve as a reminder re the installation in the PW.
Cheers,

Max
