Two actually. A friend of mine lost an eye while using a homemade abrasive cutoff saw at work. The 14" cut off wheel for some reason disintegrated and went through a hard had mounted face shield and his safety glasses. His face was a mess, but he survived because of the protection. We never did figure out why it the whell fractured, but the saw went in the garbage.
Another friend was wearing plastic safety glasses while using a brad nailer to put door casing on. A brad hit a nail and curved back, hitting the glasses and puncturing them. It stopped about 2 millimetres from his eye. A good save!!
Doesnt look like anyone needs a reason to wear them, but sure doesnt hurt to hear all the near misses and not so near misses.
Its nice to be able to go home and see your family, not just hear them!!
