All the Govenor does is control the maxium RPMs and most cars or trucks don't have them. Removing it allows you to control them not the govenor. The adjustment can give you problems due to age or worn parts. Mine was doing that it would go out of specs all the time and hills realy affected it. Many times I adjusted it and days later of cold tremps ect would make it work different. Some people change the carb out to solve this problem. I just eliminated the govenor instead. I know better than to red line a engine and just because it was disconected it would not make me want to over rev it. I have read posts befor on this problem and it is not talked about much for some reason? Some don't even realy understand how it works and this is a real easy fix for the problem if it won't adjust right anymore. Mark H.
