Yes, the generator looks like it will weld forever and not get warm. It's rated 300 amps at 40 volts (12 kW), but is as big as the generator on a military 60 kW genset, which itself is pretty well built.
When they shorten these rigs, what do they use for an engine? Since the engine holds up one end of the rotor, it seems like my options would be fairly limited without a lot of serious machine shop work.
