My brother got tired of his '83 Chevy short bed, it didn't fit his surfboards. So like a true Yankee he simply cuts the truck in half and adds in lengths of steel, gets 2 8' bed sides, and builds a long bed. I told him he was absolutely crazy, in 1 hour he could have driven down to the chevy dealer and drove away with a long bed. Later he geared it differently and the gear shop installed different gears in the pumpkins. What a surprise when he engaged 4 wheel. 3 trucks later, he had to get Dodge to search the eastern seaboard looking for a regular cab/long bed with a hemi. Just about every truck made has some sort of extended cab with a bed less than 8 feet, with a hemi.
