85 = aspect ratio (% height to width)
16in = 404 mm (diameter of wheel)
25.39 = mm per inch
so 315 x .85 = 267.75 mm section height
x 2
= 535.5 top & bottom
+ 404 16in hole in middle
= 939.5mm overall height
divide by 25.39 = 37.00inch Overall Dia
probably designed for a 9 to 11 inch wide whl
not rocket science or anything new by any means
looking at a 385/30vr15 pirelli P7 Snow/Rain
tread Tire here in my office and it came off of a 1973 Fiat 131 Rallye Car (it is mounted on a 15x15 wheel) now a table in my office
