Two things either you wired it in wrong or you have a defective unit. I assume that it is a new unit. Check all your wires and then check them again. look for crossed speaker wires. It appears to be a heat build up problem which could be in the amps which leads to the question "are the speakers wired correctly" (make sure that the wire with the stripe goes to the same terminal on all speakers on most speakers there will be a size difference beween the terminals). Look at your power supply source where did you get your power (both switched and constant) They should be soldered in not using one of those press on taps.

If it is a newer vehicle then everything should tie to the original radio wire harness through its end plug (Do not tap into the wires). Any good audio shop can sell you a color coded plug in for your vehicles radio harness and you simply solder that into the radio wire harness that came with your Alpine unit (everything is color coded so no screw ups).

I have installed several Alpine units and other brands into a standard wiring harness or into older vehiles that never had a radio. Never have had a problem ever.
