A long time ago I had a 65 Checy 1/2 ton truck. The bed rotted off so I put on a wooden bed. The old one was a couple of inches longer than 8 feet so I bought 10 foo lumber. Then I couldnt bring myself to cut almost 2 feet of wood so I had extensions welded onto the tails of the frame and built a 10 foot bed. I built a double bottom and lined the whole thing with bricks for weight. It was 2 wheel drive but would go anywhere with all the weight. That was great for hauling stuff but when it started a fishtail you were all done. It acted like a big pendulum when it started to skid and you were going around no matter what. I wish I had pictures of that rig. Also the shift linkage was shot so I put 2 rods through the floor to the 2 shifting levers on the side of the tranny. To shift, I had to pull up and /or push down the 2 rods to their proper positions for what ever gear I was looking for. I could do it in a flash, bu nobody else could drive that truck. I naver worried about someone stealing it!
