I have messed with alot of old trucks and tractors. Normally I conver the truck to 12 volt, but leave the starter 6 volt. Why do I do this you ask? 6 volt starters are perectly happy running on 12 volts, as long as you dont crank and crank and crank and crank all the time. 6 volt starters running on 12 volts come in handy, expecially when you live in a colder climate. I dont think Dodge ever made any 12 volt foot pedal engage starters. But the 6 volt starter running on 12 volts cranks the engine over much faster. I have never had a problem running 6 volt starters on 12 volts. Id go for it, but just use some common sense.
