My Dad and I were tearing down a post and beam frame barn to make way for new metal building. We attached a 5/8" cable which was about 80'long to the barn just ender the eaves and hooked it to our D2 Cat dozer. My Dad was on the opposite side of the barn pushing with our old P&H excavator while I pulled with the D2. Now with the Cat being a hand operated clutch you could in essence "pop"the clutch. So I'm pulling for all I'm worth and decided to give it a little slack and pop the clutch. The cable broke and came flying at me when it smacked the fuel tank. Some of the cable left a mark in my shirt to were you could see the strands of the wire rope. I felt very lucky that day that the fuel tank took the brunt of this wire rope recoil. Things happen so fast it's unbelievable. Did you end up getting it down?
