That's funny (well, not really) -- just yesterday I was welding a new muffler on my car, trying to do the hard part at the top of the pipe where there's nowhere to maneuver anything laying underneath the car and the torch popped and blew a blob of metal right into my ear. I heard it sizzling in there for what seemed like an awful long time, but it must have been smaller than it sounded cause I can still hear okay. We always think of goggles welding gloves and heavy shirts, but we never think of ear plugs for welding or grinding.
