Tim usually a pintle is rated heavier than a ball hitch. If you go with a ball of course your going to have to go to 2 5/16" ball and a 1" shank. They do have those dual ball/pintle receivers so you can go either way with out having to switch receivers. I would think with your plan to use the trailer as a dump bed you would want to stay with the pintle.
