Scarce? Maybe, Rare? No.
Most of us on this board have many more than one truck, I've grown tired of all the ads posting how rare the truck is and bla bla bla.
In the last three years I bet I've bought and sold over thirty of these trucks and turned down many more, Most people that want one now have one! This is one of the reasons I see the market going soft and so many of them popping up for sale, The rush to get and have one is over IMO. W series trucks have taking a HUGE hit value wise, oh sure there are still the one in a million trucks but overall I think the push is over for now.
Some parts have become more expensive (windshield frames for example) but for the most part due to ebay and forums like this the parts a readily available and now they are cheaper than when I was selling full time. NOS still brings a fair to good price but look at the MU2 winches popping up all over....$500 with bumpers and driveshafts??? Cripes I was selling those with just the winch for $800 not to long ago. LU2's, Heck I got $1800 for a complete set up 4 years ago, granted it was one of the nicest I'd ever seen but now that same winch would be lucky to get $900.
I'm just rattling off cause I'm stuck in the house and I love to stir things up but this has been rolling around in my head for awhile.
Something to remember...The people out there that are calling their trucks so rare have been trying to sell them mostly hahaha.
