Since DFG won't relocate an animal without positive proof of its existance, the recomendation is to photograph it, then prove it has been aggressive, then maybe they will move it. However of 674 people that went to that extent in California last year, only 12 were taken or moved. Of those 12, 5 people had been attacked by 4 cougars. In California, since they are no longer hunted, the estimated population has "exploded" as you put it, and they no longer have a food source to supply their needs.

Given a choice of it attacking my family, or being removed or killed, I prefer it be moved.
