I'd go ahead and pull that valve and using some crocus cloth clean the stem up. I'm betting that with a little Marvel Mystery Oil or Kroil it'll be fine. A burnt valve is usually very noticeable and you'll see the edge of the valve face eaten away right above the vlave seat. Usually the exhaust valve, but could be the intake. Don't worry about the concave vs convex valves. Just a different style I think.
