If you are going to have it blasted, then paint it immediately with Rust-oleum and call it good, but DO NOT let it sit out longer than 12 hours or overnight. Once the rust starts it will continue to grow, even under the paint and the blasting will have been a waste of time and money. Don't blast until you are prepared to paint immediately afterwards.
