Yes there are quite a few rules now by the Goverment due to safety reasons. But saying that seems like the wrong way to look at it. It is like saying don't use disk brakes there better and safer but would lead to more goverment rules. Sames goes with better hoses, fan belts, safety belts, role bars, u-joints, tires, brake linings ect. These are improvements done over the years for reasons. What is wrong with having a removable Kill Switch for your engine? Having a way to turn off or start the engine from the outside could come in real handy for certian things. Looking down the winch cable on a real hard pull with only glass between you and the cable seems dangerouse to me. A cable that breaks could cut right thru the cab and kill you. There is a reason for extended controls on winches so you will not be in line with the cable when pulling on it. I guess you could lay down on the seat when it get hairy and still work it. 50 years ago they did not have the controls they have now to do things like this on winches. After lots of people were killed or injured by them they made some changes to save lives. Think about it that way not goverment control. Mark H.
