I was thinking of it as a extra safety back up. I now know it you get tention on the dogs it is real hard to disengauge the lever. I was taking up the slop after I put my chain thru the eyes on the bumper and only wanted to wind in a couple of feet and my chain end was hooked to the cable. It was idling slow when it happen.
