Not sure exactly which winch you have, but there is a brass gear inside the housing on the drum shaft. Its the designed second point of failure, after the shear pin. Place the pto in nuetral, or disengage the pto driveshaft and manually turn it several turns, if the drum spins your ok. Remember that the brass gear will only have 2 or 3 teeth bent or torn off so you have to turn the winch enough to make at least one full revolution. Pricy gear, and braden recommends changing both the worm gear and the brass gear together, but its all pretty simple. I'm doing it to my MU-2 as we speak.
