For light snows, I do it like you show. For heavy snows though, if you can do it, try turning your blade around and plow backwards, so it is like a truck with a plow (in action). It works a lot better as you do not get snow built up under the tractor and by the tires.
I have a 52 h.p. IH diesel and with chains it plows really good this way. My blade had been modified by the previous owner by elongating the main support to allow you to use it conventially for grading dirt, and to also easily turn it 360 degrees for dragging/leveling off the crown after grading, as well as for snow work.
