I been plowing snow with a truck for quite a long time. I have ran Meyer, Western and Fisher setups, and I really like the good old dependable Western 7.5 foot straight angle blades. They are heavy enuff to where they dig well in the snow, but light enuff they dont wear your front end down too fast either. The hydralics are pretty good, and the joystick controlers are easy to use and responsive. You can get parts for Western blades easily. The only real problem I have noticed with Western blades, is the place where the cables go into the pump to the control valves in the pump, the openings where the cables go in are not sealed very well, and sometimes water gets in there and freezes and wont let you use the controls. The solution to this is to chip the ice out the control area on pump, and to seal everything up with Silicone. I personally dont care for Meyer blades, the blades are too light and they tend to float and not dig in heavy snow, and the hydralics are slow and weak on them.

As for the 'V' Plow setups, they are handy, but pose their problems. I have yet to run one, but know guys who run Boss V type setups on their trucks. They dont like them, because when they hit a small obsticle, the blade cant 'trip' like a normal straight blade. Good luck!
