Hi Don, for the spare tire carrier on the right side I think most of the weight was on the fender and he had a heavy piece of metal on the inside. It was bolted through the antenna hole between the windows. On the drivers side he mounted a spare for the trailer. Yes, it had the original flathead 6 when he was towing and he pulled it in a big loop between Iowa, Yellowstone, Colorado and wintered in Arkansas. This picture was taken in Grand Mesa Colorado in 1948.
