Strangely enough, there was an incident, as was pictured, in the fair city of Lowell, MA, just up the street from here. On Christmas day, the police received a call for a "disturbance" at a home, and when the first officer arrived and entered the home, he was immediately attacked by a hatchet and knife wielding young assailant, who he promptly shot, in self-defense! The young man died, and the newspapers have been filled with comments from people about the murdering cop, and people have been calling for a "lynching", saying that the officer should have at least used reasonabe force to stop the potential killer, or at least to just wound him, by shooting him in the leg, or ?
And to kill a 19 yr. old, on Christmas Day!
I wonder what those people would've done to protect themselves, if they were still alive to talk about it! I see in tonight's paper, that the Police Dept. has backed the officer, and cleared him of any wrongdoing in the case. A clear case of self-defense! So you see, these things really do happen, and who knows what your reaction would be! Dave Maher
