As I understand it, the TF/VF/WF series was used as a 'parts bin' for the military 3/4 ton WC trucks, which in turn morphed into the PW of course.
I think there were a range of axle ratios and stuff which were available on the WF, but only one ratio was chosen for the military trucks (and PWs) so although things like the axles and carriers might look the same you might have to count the teeth.
