Jill,
I bought my son a CEN funfactor Monster RC truck,it was a gas to drive and play with but
unlike the T-Maxx, it does not have a reverse
or 2 spd tranny but in sheer speed and racing it can smoke many other RC/nitro fueled monster trucks. It is very versitile
and the suspension can be adjusted, tires and wheels changed and a car body added to change to a parking lot racer. Maintenence will add a long useful life of the RC toy. As you use it offroad in the dirt remember,it far exceeds the scale speed for it size and hitting those jumps wide open will really take its toll on the suspension components, rims, body(if you even use one)and the servos. Those cartwheels after jumping and landing on a front wheel slightly leaning to that side will both fascinate you and impress upon you the need for control when you find you have to spend $50-100 to fix what it only took a few seconds to distroy after you ran it wide open and made a jump.
Curbs ,rocks, trees ,and even car tires will inflick some devasting damage at high speeds so drive slow at first and get use to the controls and have lotsa fun!
