The actual begining of Valve Float can sometimes be hard to determine, it's better to run it up a tad more until you can determine actual valve to piston contact, which is much easier to hear, note the rpm at which that occurs and then, run it up a tad higher and note whether lubrication failure or piston failure occurs first. If you are fortunate and have a mechanical tach, sometimes that moment at which ceasation of rotation occurs can be frozen in time on the tach face, that is most helpful for your next rebuild.
